Tokyo Belly is the newest addition to the already popular and well-renowned Ismaya Group. Some of our favorite restaurants include Kitchenette, Social House and Sushi Groove.
Last weekend when we were visiting Grand Indonesia we were intrigued by the very cool look of the restaurant and decided to give it a try. We love Japanese food so after taking a glimpse of the menu we knew we would be impressed.
We were sited promptly and ordered soon after we got there. They had abundant baby chairs and we didn’t have any trouble getting the boys to sit down for a few minutes. With an eclectic menu including traditional Japanese dishes such as J-Dogs and Miso Soup to some very cool reinventions of food such as the sushi taco we opted to order a little bit of everything.
Evan was very happy with his Teriyaki J-Dog and the husband and Joshua enjoyed sharing a delicious set that included salmon over scallops and mushrooms, white rice and miso soup. We shared the taco sushi appetizer and were happy to eat what seemed like a tortilla chip with Japanese flavors on top. I mentioned how I fell in love with Ramen the first time we visited Singapore and I’ve made it my quest to find good Ramen in Jakarta. Tokyo Belly’s signature ramen didn’t disappoint.
Over all Tokyo Belly is a fun, and relaxing place to have a nice meal and a great place to introduce your palate to some cool Japanese flavors such as those of the famous J-Dogs.

We love ramen, too!! Our favorite so far is Bochi Bochi in Blok M, but it might be a bit of a trek for you guys from the downtown area. There is a ramen shop two or three places down from Bochi Bochi and I am yet to try there.
I’ve been meaning to go to eat at Block M. There are lots of new restaurants. I will have to add Bochi Bochi to the list. Maybe we can do lunch sometime soon! Hugs!
Looks like a nice restaurant, Ana. That salmon looks mighty delicious 😀 Will have to try them one day.
It was quite good Maureen. We should do lunch again. I know it’s harder now with your new schedule…
