{JakartaForKids} Kid’s Activities at the Shangri-La Hotel

July 24, 2013 in Jakarta, Kids 9 Comments

For us, weekends in Jakarta are usually full of errands and social activities. We like to spend Saturdays and Sundays with the boys and take them out of the house at least for a few hours. Although we love all the amazing indoor playgrounds throughout Jakarta, for the most part we try to avoid the … Continue reading →

Our Packages are Ready for the World Wide Cultural Exchange

May 3, 2012 in Family, Kids 6 Comments

A few weeks ago we signed up for a great experience, namely the Little Red Farm’s World Wide Cultural Exchange. As I mentioned before here, we were very excited when we found out we were assigned a family in the UK, a kindergarten in Quebec, Canada, a family in Kuala Lumpur and a family in … Continue reading →

Batu Secret Zoo

April 19, 2012 in Family, Kids, Travel 2 Comments

If you are in Surabaya for a few days, the Batu Secret Zoo is a must see! Although it’s a good two to three-hour drive from Surabaya you won’t regret making the trip. For only 120,000 rupiah per adult for the zoo and the museum (kids get in free), it’s a steal! This zoo has … Continue reading →

Easter at the American Club

April 14, 2012 in Expat Life, Family, Holidays, Jakarta, Kids 1 Comment

As I’ve mentioned before, we try to keep our home traditions and holidays as much as possible. Easter was no exception and we were very lucky to be able to attend the Easter party at the American Club. I only took Evan to the party because daddy was out of town on a business trip … Continue reading →

10 places every kid should see in the US

April 10, 2012 in Family, Travel Leave a comment

I found this article about the ten places every kid should see in the US. I thought it was very interesting that they don’t only show places to “entertain” kids, but rather to teach them about history and science. I grew up going to Sea World in San Antonio and I would love to take … Continue reading →

Find: Miniapolis Plaza Indonesia

March 30, 2012 in Expat Life, Family, Jakarta 9 Comments

I love the outdoors. I enjoy going camping, hiking a nature trail, going to a park. Alas, Jakarta doesn’t have that many outdoor activities to offer. The few city parks I’ve seen are very dirty and not well-taken care of and the tropical heat doesn’t help considering these parks barely have any trees to provide … Continue reading →

Little Red Farm Worldwide Cultural Exchange

March 30, 2012 in Expat Life, Family, Kids 6 Comments

We are now taking part of a Worldwide Cultural Exchange where the kids, with the help of mom and dad, prepare a box of things representative of their country and culture and send it to kids elsewhere in the world. In turn, we receive boxes from the same kids we sent packages to and learn … Continue reading →

Toddler (and pregnant woman) Friendly DC

March 26, 2012 in Family, Kids, Travel 2 Comments

Washington, DC is one of my favorite capitals of the world. I always think of DC with fond memories of living there as a single girl and having a blast in DC and its surrounding areas. The DC area offers great activities for everyone and for every budget.  Whether you are an adrenaline-junkie and love … Continue reading →

Find: Kindyroo Menteng

March 19, 2012 in Family, Jakarta, Kids 8 Comments

When we first moved to Jakarta I was very disappointed to find that the closest Gymboree to our home was an hour away without traffic! I was desperate to find a good place for Evan to continue with his early development classes and I was eager to start the new baby in classes as soon … Continue reading →

It’s not a Fiesta without a Piñata!

March 17, 2012 in Crafts, Family, Holidays, Party 4 Comments

Growing up in Mexico it wasn’t unusual to see a piñata at any party.  In fact, it was rather unusual not to see one, even at office parties or when kids were not the main guests to a party. When we were dating, I gave my husband a small piñata for his birthday. I just … Continue reading →
