{WonderfulIndonesia} Bogor Kampung Life in Stills

July 8, 2012 in Indonesia 1 Comment

Bogor is a small town that lies about sixty kilometers south of Jakarta. We took the train there and encountered a wonderful city full of life and dynamism. What impacted me the most were the colors and the smiles on people’s faces. It was a Saturday, a family and shopping day de rigeur. The stalls … Continue reading →

An itsy bitsy visit to Chicago with an itsy bitsy baby

July 5, 2012 in Family, Travel 10 Comments

As we were getting ready to visit our family in the US two years ago we decided to book our flights via Chicago to do a two-night layover on our way from Bangkok to Florida. I had never been to Chicago and I was overly excited to visit this city for the first time ever. … Continue reading →

{JakartaFind} Martinis at the Darmawangsa Hotel

July 3, 2012 in Jakarta, Restaurant 12 Comments

Several good friends from AWA got together last week to enjoy good drinks and even better company. The perfect ingredient for a ladies night out has to be chocolate, right? The Darmawangsa hotel offers it in the form of a martini. I had never been there before but had heard very good reviews from many … Continue reading →

I can’t believe July is here! I feel I just got back to Jakarta with a newborn in my arms. That is certainly not the case anymore. Joshua is getting bigger by the second and Evan is becoming more charming and silly every day. I love watching their little personalities develop. God has been so … Continue reading →

{Expat Life} Surviving Summer: How to enjoy being “home” without going “home”

July 1, 2012 in Expat Life, Travel 5 Comments

Summer, the time of the year where the biggest event in the expat community takes place: the Expat Exodus. Most everybody takes advantage of the school holidays to repatriate at least for a few weeks and enjoy quality family time, real barbecue grilled burgers, fresh (vs. frozen) berries, good root beer, and very possibly some … Continue reading →

{JakartaFind} Pasar Mayestik Fabric Market

June 27, 2012 in Crafts, Home Decor, Jakarta 57 Comments

I had heard about Pasar Majestik a few times. Many people I know visit it often to buy fabric whenever they want to make a new table runner or buy silk for a ball gown. I had been meaning to go for a long time and when a few friends organized an outing I signed … Continue reading →

{WonderfulIndonesia} Cisolok Hot Springs in West Java

June 26, 2012 in Travel 7 Comments

The day we were leaving Pelabuhan Ratu my dear husband decided he wanted to visit the hot springs that were located on what he said was our way out of West Java. All I could think about was how the traffic was going to keep us away from home an extra hour for each five … Continue reading →

{ShortGetaway} Pelabuhan Ratu

June 25, 2012 in Family, Travel 8 Comments

Our good friends suggested we visited the beach for a weekend. Since we didn’t have any plans and we are always ready to travel, we packed up our beach gear and headed to the city of Pelabuhan Ratu in West Java. This beach is well known among Indonesians for being a great surfing spot and … Continue reading →

{Recipe} Little Black Dress Chocolate Cake

June 25, 2012 in Baking, Food, Recipes 7 Comments

I know it’s been a while since I posted any recipes. I haven’t really had much time to experiment lately but last week I ventured into the world of French baking and it was a disaster! Or so it seemed, not because Evan tried to eat every piece of chocolate I was putting on the … Continue reading →

A Week in Snapshots: ❊18/06/12-24/06/12❊

June 25, 2012 in A Week in Snapshots, Expat Life, Family, Jakarta, Travel 2 Comments

A day late, but here nonetheless. We had a wonderful week and an even more wonderful weekend as we saw some dear friends, did some playground exploring and ended the week by spending a couple of days at the beach. Josh has gotten his first tooth and Evan is becoming sillier and funnier by the … Continue reading →
