Lately I have not been very good at up-keeping the diary aspect of Stumble Abroad. This blog just turned a year old about two weeks ago and its original purpose was to document the our lives as a family of four in the Big Durian. Although I truly enjoy writing about our adventures and travels, … Continue reading →

{FoodFind} Taco Local

February 19, 2013 in Food, Jakarta, Restaurant 4 Comments

After reading about Taco Local on my good friend Kaho’s blog I knew I had to make an effort to venture to the South Side (picture me saying that with hand gesture that obviously gives me street cred) and try it myself. After all, the Mexican in me wanted needed its monthly taco fix and … Continue reading →

{JakartaForKids} Tranportation Museum @ Taman Mini

February 6, 2013 in Family, Indonesia, Jakarta, Kids, Museum 2 Comments

As we were ready to exit the Taman Mini theme park on our last visit Evan noticed an airplane and train and was very adamant about stopping and taking a look. We were all a bit tired but indulged the toddler in his craving for things that roll and fly since we weren’t sure when … Continue reading →

I have always said that Indonesia is as diverse as it’s people. With over 17,000 islands, 34 provinces and 238 million inhabitants it is no surprise that its rich culture is not only vast but also varied and that it’s customs and values have become tangible in the food, architecture and palette of colors offered … Continue reading →

{FoodFind} Honeymoon Dessert

January 22, 2013 in Food, Jakarta, Restaurant 7 Comments

It has become our quest to find the perfect mall for us in Jakarta. It doesn’t have the be the fanciest or biggest one but one that when we visit it includes a decent lunch, a wonderful dessert, room for the boys to run around, limited crowds and a little bit of shopping. Our project … Continue reading →

Tokyo Belly is the newest addition to the already popular and well-renowned Ismaya Group. Some of our favorite restaurants include Kitchenette, Social House and Sushi Groove. Last weekend when we were visiting Grand Indonesia we were intrigued by the very cool look of the restaurant and decided to give it a try. We love Japanese … Continue reading →

A Week in Snapshots: ❊December 10-16,2012❊

December 16, 2012 in A Week in Snapshots, Expat Life, Family, Holidays, Jakarta, Kids, Party 2 Comments

My heart is aching for the families in Newtown, Connecticut. Every time I watch the news or read a new article about it I get a tear-eyed and try not to hug the boys too hard. I can’t believe something like this is happening, yet again. My thoughts and constant prayers go out to those … Continue reading →

{Jakarta} Museum Nasional

December 12, 2012 in Indonesia, Jakarta, Museum 9 Comments

They say places are defined by its history. That pieces of what was mark what now is. That the past determines the present. I believe some of this is true but what I really am sure about is that catching a glimpse of history is essential in understanding the existing conditions of a place. I … Continue reading →
